325 Spring Street, New York City was the former location of Factory Records’ US operations in the form of Factory US and Of Factory New York.

In 2017 photographer Sean Vegezzi took an amazing series of photographs of the upper floors of the building which were completely empty. Factory was in Room 233 and it's quite possible that some of the pics show the location of the old office. However, with most of the building contents completely stripped out it is not possible to discern exactly where it was.

In September/October 1986 the video / sculpture / installation 'Compact' designed by Peter Saville took place at the White Columns art gallery which was also located in the building. This was commemorated by the Fac 171 poster.

I have published them as a series of three mini photo galleries on Instagram in order to do justice to the detail that they show. In a different, parallel universe, Joy Division would have toured North America in May/June 1980 and gone on to be super massive. Sadly in this world it never happened for tragic reasons but there are plenty of artefacts from the time which remind us of what could have been.

One of the many treasures in the AHW archive at the Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester is a typewritten itinerary for all the days in the trip which was planned 19 May to 10 June. Other variants exist including Detroit Bookies on 26 May (which Rob Gretton's notes in 1 Top Class Manager - which also contains further details on costings, etc - explain there was a "possibility of cancellation"). Days off were built into the schedule and the San Francisco date was to have been either the 6th or 7th of June.

Peter Hook & The Light have a very busy live schedule for the rest of the year what with UK venue and festival dates thru til September, culminating in two special dates at The Ritz in Manchester on Thursday 25 September and then London's Shepherd's Bush Empire on the following Saturday. The band will premiere live performances of New Order's Low-Life and Brotherhood at these gigs which are in aid of MIND & Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy.

Then, after a short break, Hooky and the Light will jet off to North America for a full 17-date tour.

Peter Hook & The Light will return to North America in November 2014 for a 14 date tour performing New Order's albums Low Life and Brotherhood live and uncut. As with Hooky's earlier tours, these shows will also feature relevant singles and other cuts from the same period.
