Black Grape have been added to the Beano On The Sea at Hastings Pier over the long Friday to Saturday weekend of 8-10 September 2017.

Bez out of Happy Mondays also hosts one of the aftershow parties over the weekend.

Black Grape are back with a new album and tour for 2017. Pop Voodoo is in the shops and online from 7 July. It's the first album since 1997's Stupid Stupid Stupid. Ahead the album's release band support Richard Ashcroft at Brixton Academy and then in August it's the Moovin Festival in Stockport (alongside Pickering/Park, Greg Wilson and other factory alumni).

The NME reports on the reformation of Black Grape for a gig at The Coronet in London on 1 April 2010 (as part of Get Loaded in The Dark).

According to Shaun Ryder "It's great, it's interesting, it's part two. I've had a break and now I'm back to do it. Danny Saber and I have a great working relationship and the time is right." Rapper Kermit is also on board.

CENTRAL STATION DESIGN CELEBRATE 25 YEARS.

To celebrate, Central Station are to showcase a retrospective exhibition, to be held throughout May 2008 at Manchester's Richard Goodall Gallery. The exhibition will include a selection of limited edition fine art prints of some of their iconic artwork.

Central Station's legendary career has seen them working with bands such as Happy Mondays, James, and Black Grape. They have been responsible for creating a revolution in the art of record sleeve design. Their artwork is gloriously anarchic, free-flowing, and wildly evocative.

“We've always thought that graphic design is a bit up it's own arse, so in our designs we always tried to do something a bit looser, we wanted to establish and create our own identity. As kids we always thought beyond our means, obsessed with the idea that there was more to life than doing what everyone else did.” - Central Station.

Curator Richard Goodall notes, “Central Station’s work is widely accepted as amongst the most influential; they inspired a generation of artists, designers and music fans and helped define the infamous 'Madchester' era.”

Their 2001 collaboration with Michael Winterbottom on his film 24 Hour Party People opened the door to a wide range of TV and film design projects, from Channel 4's Hamburg Cell to ITV's Prime Suspect. This has led the team to working with such names as Helen Mirren, Robbie Coltrane, Tim Robbins, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.

Gallery curator Richard anticipates great success for the show, “We are honoured to be housing this exclusive exhibition. Central Station’s influential designs are part of both music recording and Manchester's history and this show will present a great viewing opportunity for music and art fans alike.”

The tailpiece of the September 2005 edition of MOJO magazine is a concise and amusing history of Black Grape by Shaun Ryder (as told to Ben Machell). Among the delights, Shaun explains how Black Grape got started: "[February 1993] After the Mondays split, I told everyone I was leaving the music business. The rest of the band was saying anything to get into the music papers. Me and Bez just kept our mouths shut, and within a day of the Mondays finishing, we got together with Kermit and a couple of others round my house in Didsbury and started jamming in my living room."

The summer release schedule receives a big kick in the pants with this news in from Pete Carroll in Australia: "A new single by Bez and Shaun Ryder with Domino Bones will be released in Australia in July. It's called "Rattle my Head" and is Bez's debut as a vocalist. Shaun sings with him. It's a cross between the Rolling Stones, Black Grape and Bez on a box in Hyde park speakers corner delivering a revolutionary message..."

There is no better time for a man from a council estate to rise up and bring this country to a halt". The record was recorded in Manchester and Perth Western Australia. Bez put his parts down in the UK, while Shaun recorded his vocals in Pete's studio in Australia. The loads of slide guitar and a big Mick and Keef chorus. Bez and Shaun leading the charge for the revolution. It's real, it's honest, it's fresh and it isn't a piece of corporate bullshit put together in a marketing department of some major record company. Shaun and Bez retain their independence - how many people in music can you say that about. They've always done it on their terms. In an age dominated by pop idol and marketing people and accounts we need their spirit more than ever!!"
