17 November sees the release of a double blue vinyl edition of A Paean To Wilson. This new edition produced by Cargo Records in association with The Durutti Column. The packaging, credits and notes are similar to the 2LP edition produced by Kooky Records for Record Store Day 2013 in the UK (which is sold out). The main difference is that this 2017 edition does not include the envelope containing the Manchester International Festival programme and the large postcard featuring the original artwork which were include in RSD 2013 package. Please also note that the 'Heaven Sent' tracks offered via download with the RSD 2013 2LP or as CD2 in the original cd version (Kookydisc 29/2) are not included.

All profits go to the artist.

The 2CD version (with 'Heaven Sent' bonus disc) is available again via Cargo.

Finally, please also note that this is not technically a formal Kooky Records release but is rather a Cargo/Durutti co-production. However, it does bear the original catalogue number and packaging.

Big news this week has come out of Kooky Records Towers with long-awaited details of the much-delayed new version of Chronicle by The Durutti Column. We will defer to Phil for all the details but, in summary, the new version, which is now titled Chronicle LX:XL will be released on 19 April 2014 (Record Store Day) in a 2CD deluxe package.

Fans will recall the first version of Chronicle was a special limited edition commissioned for the last "proper" DC gig at the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester in 2011.

Thanks to Phil Kooky (no him neither) for the news that The Durutti Column's two albums titles 'A Paean to Wilson' and 'Vini Reilly' will be re-issued in jewel cases towards the end of 2013.

The releases will be identical to the original (out-of-stock) digi-packs with the same artwork, tracklistings, etc but they will be available at a lower price in the Kooky Shop from November.

Kooky Records has confirmed details of its Record Store Day release for 2013 - A Paean To Wilson by The Durutti Column.

"It is pressed on 2 x 180gram vinyl discs, remastered and gently coaxed since the CD release in 2009.
The main alteration is the omission of the 'hidden track wind noise' at the end of the album; to bring timings in within the limits of four sides!

Artwork has been restructured by Trevor Johnson and the album also contains the following:

a) A free download code with every copy.
b) A copy of the original folded poster programme from the MIF show.
c) A postcard - using the cover image of Tony Wilson and Vini sat at the piano, with information on the flip side.

Both these physical artefacts ( b) and c) ) will be packed in a black envelope foil block stamped and inserted in the album before shrink wrapping.

Pressing :- There are exactly 497 copies one run only
Availability :- Released 20th April 2013 for Record Store Day*

* Please note - This means that it will only be sold through record shops primarily to support our independent retailers.

It will retail at £26.00.

However... Should there be any remaining stock, it will be sold here at Kooky and I will be putting the relevant details here (i.e. via kookydisc.co.uk)."

Chronicle, the new album by The Durutti Column which was premiered last week in York and Manchester is available to buy now direct from Kooky Records. The album was initially sold exclusively at the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester on Saturday 30 April 2011 and comes with a 16-page colour booklet of photographs by Vini Reilly.

The album is priced at 15.00 including Worldwide postage and packing and is available whilst stocks. The album will receive a full release later in the year.

It will consist of two discs: the original album re-mastered by Keir Stewart and a nine-track bonus disc of unheard studio out-takes from a session TDK tape which has been in the possession of Vini and not played for many years!

- a free CD which will feature 10 tracks, past, present and future. The first CD includes work in progress in March, tracks that were to be on Tempus Fugit and other outtakes. In addition, there are three demos, varying in quality - but of interest, including an unreleased track from 'Return of...', Missing Boy and something that never made the Vini Reilly album.

- a bi-annual newsletter will be printed and posted, we are not quite sure of the content and I would encourage anyone who wishes to subscribe to be pro-active in suggesting what they would like - a Q and A piece will be there too so feel free to forward any! I am also going to look at getting some tablature for any guitarists who wish to try their hand (me incl).

- discounts and priority avaialability to new releases.

Support at The Durutti Column's forthcoming shows in Liverpool, Shrewsbury and Nottingham will come from Mark Tranmer (aka Gnac) according to the official Durutti website which was updated today.

The new Durutti album has been confirmed as being called Tempus Fugit. It will feature 14 acoustic tracks and will be available at the band's shows in April and May through the Kooky label.

No further news on 'The Definitive Durutti Column' despite it being listed in February's Observer Music Monthly under Compilations and provisionally being slated for February / March release. As an aside, the same OMM's Record Doctor item on the fashion designer Paul Smith shows him to have The Durutti Column in his collection.

This just in from Phil Kooky:

The seminal (I love that word) live album by The Durutti Column 'Live at the Venue' will be re-mastered and re-released in time for the show in Manchester on Saturday 13 December 2003.

This is hopefully the first in a series of re-releases to be put out on 'thedurutticolumn.com' label which will be run by the band directly presumably through the official website. There is also the possibility of a subscription-type release system and expect more news on this soon.
