According to the review of his sell-out Edinburgh Festival show in the Guardian, Russell Brand does a comedy impersonation of Shaun Ryder ("Sean" Ryder in the article) in which he likens him to a didgeridoo. Oh my.

"Filming for a new cult movie, based on the life of a 1970s post-punk legend, was brought to Loughborough's Great Central Railway this week. 'Control' is a new, highly anticipated film based on the life of the late Ian Curtis - ex-frontman of the legendary band Joy Division... This week it was Loughborough's turn to take centre stage and film crews headed straight to the Great Central Railway. A spokesman for the railway said: "We agreed to let them do the filming here and, initially, it was just to take a shot of two people walking down the station's stairs. But once they were here and had had a look around, they decided they wanted to incorporate more into it. In the end they made use of other parts of the platform and the trains too!""

The exhibition will open late September and will feature a range of exciting artefacts including Stone Roses and Oasis rarities, alongside footage of City greats talking about their favourite music.

Section 25 are playing the Summer Daze Festival in Stanley Park, Blackpool on Sunday 27 August (Bank Holiday weekend). It'll be a short 20 minute set and they'll be on stage at approx 3pm.

The festival is to promote the 2nd Ugly Truth About Blackpool CD that S25 are featured on. The track used is a version of Dirty Disco recorded live in Paris (June 2006). The CD is available at Music Zone/Action Records/Picadilly,cheers Vin

darylstudio.com carries a report on the new exhibition at the ICA in London which features the efforts of eminent designers to remodel the famous MTV logo.

Peter Saville's "entry" consists of the original 'M' in its packaging, signed by Saville and returned with a note which says "I was as excited as everyone else by the advent of a fully-fledged music channel twenty-five years ago. My initial optimism faded though as the culture of pop began it's (sic) descent into pure entertainment. Corporately controlled karaoke is not very interesting to me, but then I guess that nothing sells like teen spirit. I would rather it had stayed in the box.."

There's a striking photo of Sam Riley on set in Nottingham during filming of Control, the Ian Curtis biopic during July in the new issue of Mojo (September 2006, "Mondo MOJO", page 16).
